Don't check my theology on this! There is a special place in heaven for foster parents. Like the Dobsons. Like my departed sister, who never cared a stitch for Jesus, but poured her life into foster kids, most of whom were the ones nobody else wanted. You struck a tender nerve, Amanda.

I had a neighbor, a single man named Michael, who was put into foster care when he was a child. I asked him what that was like and he said it was hell.

I'm curious, seriously. Early in the intro you said ".... if the government let any old person ... ", would it have the same meaning as " .... if the government let any elderly person .... "?

No. It's just a turn of speech which means something like "any random person." But I can see how it might come across that way.
