I was thinking recently about why the topic of imagination is so important to me. The topic of my last newsletter fresh on my mind (about the ways I encouraged my niece to revel in her imagination), it occurs to me that this theme of imagination has been percolating there for at least a decade or more. Imagination isn't just important for kids, it's important for everyone. My next novel, 27, is about a society from which imagination has been stripped. I'm writing this novel because our society is currently being stripped of its imagination, and it alarms me.
