The Great Cover Up - Issue #19
In other words, we're still renovating. (Why does "cover up" sound sinister but "renovation" doesn't? A thought for another time.) But we're nearly to the point where we can at last partially move in. We should be able to move into one bedroom and the kitchen this week.
How heavenly it will be to wake up in that house, go work on a project for a while and go back to bed in the same house! We have been waking up in our friends' house, driving to our house to work on it, working on it for six to eight hours at a stretch, driving back to our friends' house and falling into bed exhausted only to wake up and do it all over again.
I'm also looking forward to getting my own kitchen set up and having all my ingredients and kitchen implements handy. (What with all of my food sensitivities, making nearly everything from scratch is important. That is always somewhat difficult to accomplish in someone else's house.)
Our master bedroom is nearly finished. We finished all the painting Saturday and started laying down the floor that evening. It's starting to come together and look so nice! Keep an eye on Facebook for progress photos! (When the floor is completed, I'm going to post before and after photos.)
Today (Sunday), I have been so exhausted. I slept hard all last night and still woke up groggy, stumbling around, with nothing but lead for brains. Went to church, got some lunch, came home and slept for over an hour. The general illness I have been feeling lately, has not helped overall. But I have been able to keep going and sleep when I need to this week. So that has prevented a complete crash.
So, that's all the news from Starr, South Carolina. I have great hopes that next week's newsletter will be written at my house. (Please, oh please!)
Meanwhile, here's a toad I met last night.
I told him that he could stay around as long as he liked and to please eat all the annoying bugs he wants. At which point, he hopped off the porch and went to work.
Until next time, folks.
