The Great Copper Heist of ‘22 - Issue #7
Someone Cut the Phone Line
We’re currently stayed with friends while we wait to close on our house. We’re out in the beautiful South Carolina countryside. The country side is not free of problems, however. Last Monday, someone decided to harvest a little copper by cutting the phone line from the cover of a convenient tree nearby. Internet here comes via the phone line, so we haven’t got any. Which leaves me with phone data to work with. But my cell phone carrier decided it was time to throttle my data as I was using it too much. So...while I would normally set up a WiFi hotspot connection to get on my laptop and prepare this issue, my data is not sufficient for the task and I am left to type up this short update with my thumbs via my phone, hoping things don’t stop working while I’m in the middle of it!
Word is, things are supposed to get fixed sometime later tomorrow. Please, oh please!
Meanwhile, Life Goes On
I was able to pound out about a 1,000 words on 27 this weekend which I was quite happy about. There were a lot of things screaming for my attention like church functions and running to get bloodwork done before my next doctor’s appointment on Tuesday, etc... But I still made some progress.
Tomorrow, I have to get up early and take my Bob to the vet for his first big heart worm treatment. It turns out that he had heart worm when he showed up at my door as a stray over a year ago, poor fella. They are advanced enough now to finally show up via blood test. So, in addition to trying to work without the proper tools, being nomads between homes and everything else, I must nurse poor Bob back to health. Look to my Facebook page later today for a post about that. Here is Bob:
Progress
Meanwhile, my cold seems to be healing and I sang hymns in church today! (I’m writing this on Sunday afternoon.) My voice was a tad weak, but I did sing. So, maybe I’ll be able to record “A Better Resurrection” sooner than I thought last week about this time while I was sniffling and sneezing and rasping on the couch! Look for more updates and photos and snippets about that in the days to come.
I wish you all a good week full of progress on your own projects, perseverance and ingenuity when things go wrong, and God’s peace for everything in between.
And don’t judge me for typos today! I typed this with my thumbs on a tiny screen for Pete’s sake!
