Ready or Not - Issue #23
My mom and mother-in-law have helped Jonathon and me accomplish some order around here for the last ten days. What a help!
So, on the last full day of my mom's stay with us, we packed a picnic lunch and drove the next state over to Minnehaha Falls. Our intent was to give our mothers fair a treat to thank them for all the help. During the somewhat steep hike up, I began to think our idea may have been ill-begotten. Both moms were having some difficulty stepping over large tree roots and climbing a few rocks. Nevertheless, they both seemed to enjoy the beautiful sight waiting at the top.
The rhododendrons were in full bloom! That would be the first time for me in the mountains with the rhododendrons in bloom. I've always wanted to see them.
I provided the entertainment by slipping and falling with a tremendous splash in the shallow water while wading with Argos. (It was a fun hour and half drive back in those wet clothes while stuck with Bob on my lap, let me tell you.)
The picnic was fun, the weather was fine, and the view...unparalleled. If you ever get a chance to go see Minnehaha Falls in Lakemont, GA, just do it. It's one of the most beautiful waterfalls I've ever seen. Also, the gorgeous Lake Rabun is close by as well as several other waterfalls.
And now, friends and readers, wish me all the best at getting back to a writing routine. There are still piles of stuff and unpacked boxes taunting me in every corner of the house. But they can wait for an hour a day while I get some writing in. Or so I tell myself.
Until next time, folks...
