Our Film Festival Week - Issue #28
We began by loading up the car with model rockets. My husband is quite the model rocket enthusiast and is forever buying old models from Facebook marketplace. This trip, he needed to deliver a couple to a friend of ours that lives near Albany. Then we picked up Justin (my brother) from the Atlanta airport and drove the rest of the way. That evening, we got to watch the Kendricks next film, Lifemark. It'll be showing in theaters on September 9. It was good. I do wish the Kendricks would develop a bit more artistic beauty in their films, but it was a solid story. And, it was my favorite kind of story...a true story. You should definitely go see it in theaters.
The next day, Justin and I didn't see many films because we were busy talking to other filmmakers. (I'm still recovering from all that extraverting...) Justin shared his film concept with a few filmmakers with more experience and got some valuable feedback. That afternoon, to his disappointment, he got sick. And he stayed sick and felt yuck for the entire next day which was the last day of the festival. Blech. Regardless, he and Jonathon and myself got a lot of brainstorming done as we talked about the film project we would like to get started on. It's my favorite kind of story...a true story. In fact you can see a documentary about it here:
We do not yet have official permission from the family to go ahead with this film, but they will make a decision soon. If they do give permission, I will be so honored to write this story. I don't even have words to express how honored I would be. You won't understand unless you watch the documentary above. Just watch it.
By the way, it won first place for best documentary this week!
At any rate, it was a nice time together as a family, and I enjoyed catching up with old friends. Plus, the awards ceremony at the end was an excellent excuse to wear the pretty retro dress I've been dying to wear for the longest time.
Until next time, folks...
