Last night, my husband and I started into the new Civil War film on Amazon. We got a half hour in or so and shut it off. It was going nowhere, incredibly slowly, besides being insufferably pretentious.
We dusted off an old favorite instead: Quigley, Down Under, and thoroughly enjoyed it all over again.
The two films, side by side, created such a distinct contrast between the worldview of “self-conscious despair” and the worldview of hope, that I think this will likely be the subject of my next piece.
Stay tuned.
I am a BIG Quigley fan, so would look forward to this!!
