A Homey Kind of Newsletter - Issue #31
We are all settling in quite nicely. It is Sunday afternoon as I write, and the house is very quiet. Everyone has been tired and took themselves off to bed right after lunch. I just woke from an excellent nap just in time to witness an excellent thunderstorm. I have always loved a good thunderstorm, the windier and thunderier the better. (Thunderier is a word. Fight me!) The dogs are curled up in their dog beds and Captain Chubs is babbling away in the room he shares with his mommy. Argos has heaved two great, big, deep sighs of doggy contentment from his doggy bed. It is nice to just sit here, propped up in bed, watching the rain fall softly now through the window and listen to quiet house sounds and remember that it is Sunday and I have permission to just sit and rest and contemplate even though there are dishes aplenty in the kitchen sink. They will keep.
Last week was a hard week for me. I dealt with a lot of pain and fatigue. I feel like I am emerging from a long hazy tunnel back into a functioning human state again. At least, I hope I am. I feel better today.
In spite of circumstances, I used my unforeseen down time to write some more. And for the first time since right before moving into this house, I wrote new material instead of editing the old on 27. I FINISHED the rough draft of Chapter 16! (It sounds a little funny to the average person to say you finished the rough draft. Finished means finished, right? Nope. And if you're a writer, you know what I mean.)
Jonathon just got up and started playing on the piano. It's the accompaniment to a song I'm supposed to sing tonight at church. (I momentarily forgot all about it.) My dad wrote it many years ago, and hearing it makes me miss him again. Here, you can listen to it!
Hope you enjoyed that song and this letter. Here's to this week. May it be full of kind words, more energy, more new material on 27, and more days of enjoying the things of home.
Until next time, folks...
